Old Punt Road boat ramp to temporarily re-open

The Old Punt Road boat ramp will temporarily re-open so boaters can retain access to the Clyde River during construction of the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement.

Member for Bega Andrew Constance said river access would alternate between the Clyde Street west and Old Punt Road boat ramps.

“Transport for NSW is committed to maintaining access for boaters to the Clyde River during work on the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project,” Mr Constance said.

“To safely build the new bridge, access is required to both the northern and southern foreshore areas of the Clyde River.

“Alternating access between the Old Punt Road boat ramp and Clyde Street boat ramp will allow for the efficient delivery of major work.”

Access to the Old Punt Road boat ramp will be reinstated on Friday, 25 September and the Clyde Street boat ramp will be closed the following day, weather permitting.

Both Old Punt Road boat ramp and Clyde Street boat ramp will each provide up to eight boat trailer parking spaces and a boat trailer turn-around area.

River access will continue to alternate between the two sites throughout major work, and the community will be informed ahead of these changes.

A temporary boat ramp will no longer be constructed at Korners Park because it will be used to assist with work on the new bridge.

Boat users can also subscribe for specific updates regarding ramp access via email and text message by contacting the project team at BatemansBayBridge@jhg.com.au or 1800 870 119.

River users may continue to use Hanging Rock boat ramp in Batemans Bay and Nelligen Boat ramps in Nelligen throughout major work.

The $274 million Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project will build better connections in and around Batemans Bay for motorists, freight, river users, pedestrians and cyclists.

Major work started in early 2019, and is planned to be complete in early 2023.
