North Head Drive, Moruya will remain closed between the Granite Quarry and Bruce Cameron Drive to 20 August 2021, weather permitting. Commuters will need to detour via Broulee Road. Access to the Moruya Airport will only be available from the north via George Bass Drive.

Vehicles will be escorted through the worksite to properties in Garlandtown as required. A Council spokesperson said "The North Head Drive closure has been extended due to the moisture in the road pavement, which makes it difficult to prepare the road for sealing. The majority of the road lies on the shadow of the adjacent hills with little to no direct sunlight. Any moisture onsite (fog, humidity, rainfall) has exacerbated this situation.

"Council has taken the opportunity to make improvements to the overall drainage, but this work has not extended the road closure. The project is forecast to be on budget (even with the extended closure).

"The new Garlandtown Bridge has been built with the improved safety of cyclists in mind. It will be built to a regional road standard of 2x 3.5m lanes with 2m shoulders either side. This is a significant improvement on the original bridge that had negligible shoulder, and obliged cyclists to move in to the travel lanes when crossing the bridge," the spokesperson said.
