The Beagle, The NSW law is very clear: Backyard firework displays are illegal in NSW and those who buy, sell or use fireworks without a licence face heavy fines or imprisonment. Also, the possession, use, storage and transport of display fireworks is restricted to individuals holding an appropriate licence. Fireworks are not a novelty item, they are an explosive that can cause serious injuries and even death. Anyone caught selling or purchasing fireworks without a licence faces fines of up to $27,000 and 12 months in jail and anyone caught displaying fireworks without a licence faces penalties of up to $27,500 In Eurobodalla we have annual fireworks at the Bells Carnival, Tomakin Social Club, Tuross Country Club and Narooma Golf Club. They are legal. Who knows why they think their noise and the net affect of their actions is enjoyed by the wider community and that they have some god given right to impose themselves but they do. Maybe their members should say "Enough is enough". But I digress. Those are legal fireworks done by professionals with a permit. All of the others we have to endure are lit by self entitled morons who are not only breaking the law but disrespecting the residents and, most importantly, their animals. We know when the legal fireworks are on. We can take measures to protect our domestic animals. But the torchecul morons from whereever they come with their rockets and crackers are nothing more than ignorant enculés who deserve the wrath of the law. But where is the law? Where are the locals to swarm and take photos as evidence? Where is the outrage that our social media pages are filled with photos of missing dogs and cats. Every year we expect the clubs and carnival to make fireworks. God knows why they must but they do. Maybe we should ban it and let those places argue why it must continue. We can ban it. The Corrigans Oval belongs to the council. If they ban fireworks on council property that gets rid of the carnival fireworks. The last council banned helium balloons on council reserves. This council can ban fireworks. Next is the Tuross Bowling Club. That is also council land. The Narooma golf club is also council. If council banned fireworks on council land that leaves one place in Tomakin. One legal place in the whole of Eurobodalla. Why would they insist to be the only place? If the council did this one small thing then every firework in eurobodalla would be illegal. For the sake of our animals please council make the fireworks illegal on your land. If you do not please tell us why you refuse. Tell my dogs. Tell my neighbors dogs. Tell Pie who was found after nine days. Tell the horses in the paddocks and the kangaroos. Tell me Gabriella Ramirez Malua Bay
