Keepers at Mogo Wildlife Park are delighted to welcome a new baby lion cub to their ever-growing family of big cats at the popular South Coast home of wildlife.
Born to second-time Mum, Chitwa, and male lion, Baaku, the new cub is a full sibling to the wildlife park’s famous resident, Phoenix, who was born at the time of the devastating Black Summer bushfires.
Zookeeper Chad (IG: @zookeeper_chad) is besotted at the new arrival and commented that Chitwa is a ‘textbook Mum’ caring for the new cub perfectly.
Zookeeper Chad and his team will be carrying out further health checks on the cub towards the end of this week and are excited to watch the cubs progress in these early days.
The new cub’s big brother Phoenix has recently joined the wildlife park’s other famous young lioness, Maji (hand-reared by Chad) in their new enclosure and first signs are showing the pair are very amicable after a long and careful process by the parks’ keepers to ensure their safe transition into a home together.
