Fifty-one new, all-day car parks, including four accessible spaces, are available in Bega with the completion of the Plumb Motors carpark on Auckland Street.

Council’s Project Services Manager, Daniel Djikic said the new carpark will benefit the whole community including customers and employees within the Bega CBD as well as provide more parking for users of the nearby recreational grounds.

“The new carpark provides 51 untimed spaces for the community, with a wide, accessible footpath through the middle of the carpark and a pathway linking to the recreation ground behind.

“The use of 45-degree parking has made the entry and exit into each parking space easier, while also maximising the number of carparks.

“We’ve also installed garden beds with native grasses and planted nine Corymbia Ficifolia Wildfire trees—small, red flowering gums—which were selected due to their suitability for urban environments such as carparks.”

“I advocated for this when I was Mayor and while it has been a long road, I was glad to see it finally funded last year and I’m even happier to see it finished,” Ms McBain said.

“The carpark looks great and will benefit the Bega community by providing parking not only for people to shop at local businesses, but also to watch events at the sportsground next door.”

The carpark was made possible with funding from the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program funding and a Council contribution.
