Nelligen Bridge tracking to be complete by late 2023

Work over the last few months has been progressing well across the Nelligen Bridge Replacement project. The dryer weather has allowed teams working on various aspects of the project to make up for time lost due to long periods of wet weather. All 77 super-T girders are now in place and the concrete bridge deck has been poured. In addition, all 156 precast concrete safety barriers have now been installed. Now that the bridge deck is complete and the concrete safety barriers have been installed, the team will be adding the railings, preparing for pavement works and installing the drainage system. Dry weather also means earthworks are steaming ahead as we build the approach roads and new alignment of the Kings Highway. The new bridge is expected to open ahead of schedule by early 2023, weather permitting. This means that the whole project, including demolition of the existing bridge, is tracking to be complete by late 2023, weather permitting. In the coming months, there will be temporary traffic changes on the Kings Highway. These changes will include lane closures, stop/slow traffic conditions and a reduced speed of 40 km/h. These traffic changes will be in place from Saturday 12 November for up to three weeks, weather permitting. Electronic message boards will advise of impacts and dates in advance.
