Divers will make temporary repairs to the shark net at Narooma’s Bar Beach this week.

Eurobodalla Council’s construction coordinator Greg Knight said the chains securing the bottom of the net had fatigued and needed replacing.

“We’re making temporary repairs this week and we’ve order 180 metres of new chain, to be installed after the school holidays,” Mr Knight said.

The holding chains are affected by wear and tear caused by ocean swell, and the top portion of the shark net was upgraded at the end of winter last year.

Mr Knight said there would be no impact on users of Bar Beach during this week’s repairs.
