Minor Singles Championship

There were several matches played this week. Rod Holman was up against Andrew Thompson with Andy getting away to a good start to lead seven to six after seven ends but Rod had taken the lead 12 to eight after 11 ends. Rod continued to gradually draw clear and he ran out a 25 to 13 winner of a very good match. Terry Lewis played Barry Goodwin and Terry led early and the score was 10 to eight in his favour after 11 ends. The scores remained close with Terry edging out to a 19 to 13 lead after 20 ends and he maintained his lead to take the match 25 to 13. Terry and Rod then backed up to play their next match on Sunday. They swapped the lead on four occasions early on until Terry took four ends in a row to lead 13 to eight after 13 ends. Terry gradually eased clear to take the game 25 to 16.

NBC Mixed Pairs

The Final of the Mixed Pairs was played last week between Sue Wales and Greg Ryan (skip) and Ella Breust and John Breust (skip). This was a very high standard match with barely a shot in it throughout. With one end to go Greg and Sue led 20 to 19 and on the last end Sue moved the jack to near the ditch and Greg followed up by trailing the jack into the ditch making it impossible for Ella or John to make shot. With those two shots Sue and Greg ran out 22 to 19 winners and congratulations to them on playing so well throughout the Championship. Congratulations must also go to Ella and John for their efforts in making this such a memorable final.

Above: Winners of the NBC Mixed Pairs Greg Ryan (skip) and Sue Wales are congratulated by the runners up, Ella Breust and John Breust (skip).
