On Wednesday we had a good turnout of 42 bowlers with winners decided by Highest Winning Margin and this week the winners were Les Waldock, Neville Butt and Allan Rich (skip) who led 13 to five after 11 ends before drawing away for a 31 to eight win against Cindy Newell, Peter Hulands and Greg Ratford (skip). Second place went to Allan Chisholm, Rod Holman and Peter Jones (skip) who led 12 to six after 11 ends before taking some multiple ends as they went on for a 31 to 11 win against Greg Riley, Don Caldwell and John McNamara (skip). Visitor, Greg Ratford, for the second week in a row, had a resting toucher at 1.50. Well done Greg. Thank you to Rapley and Son, Narooma Plaza, for their continued support.
On Thursday we had a special Australia Day social day. The Women’s Club joined with the Men’s Club to have a very entertaining day starting out with starters of Lamingtons and Scones with cream and jam. Teams were selected by Joe’s Special draw and there were two games of 11 ends with first game winners and losers changing rinks after the first 11 ends. After the games were completed the bowlers were fed handsomely with a BBQ Sausage Sizzle. The two-game winning team with the highest combined winning margin was Sue Waldock, Tony Gors/Aurelia Robinson and Terry Lewis (skip) who had wins of 17 to four and 12 to eight for a 17-shot margin. Second place went to Rhys Budnick, Jan Rapkins and Margaret Naylor (skip) with a total margin of 12 shots with 14 to six and 12 to eight win. Third place, first game loser and highest winning margin in their second game were Mick Cavic, Pam Grant and Tony Palmer (skip) who had a convincing 23 to three win in their second game. Tony Gors provided a testing Australia Day Quiz with appropriate Vegemite and Aeroplane Jelly prizes. An extensive raffle completed the day with all bowlers going home happy after a very successful day..
On Saturday we had some very close matches with the winners selected by Lucky Rinks and this week the big money went to Cindy Newell and Darrell Goodridge (skip) who were down 13 to 15 after 13 ends before finishing well for a 24 to 19 win against Baxter Smith and ‘Cuz’ Wilton (skip).
Minor Pairs Championship
There was one, second round, match played this week. Peter Hawker was up against Peter Hiscox with Peter Hiscox getting away to a 14 to four lead after 11 ends. Peter Hawker fought back to trail 12 to 14 after 15 ends but from there onwards Peter Hiscox got into his rhythm as he went on to take the match 25 to 15.
To Ponder
Indecision may or may not be my problem.
