On Wednesday we had a good turnout of 42 bowlers. Winners were decided by Lowest Winning Margin and this week the winners were Warren Bender, Neville Cork and John Downie (skip) who were tied eight all after 12 ends in a match where the lead changed on seven occasions They won the match 15 to 14 after John, guided by Neville, took out the opposition’s bowls, sitting on the jack, and sat his bowl for shot against Jeff McCusker, Barry Goodwin and Tony Gors (skip) Second place went to Peter Hawker, Russell Smith and Jeremy Seaton (skip) who were 11 all after 12 ends and it was close all the way before they picked up the last three ends to sneak clear for a 21 to 17 win against Allan Chisholm, Don Helmore and Gavin Richardson (skip). Wayne Harman had a resting toucher at 12.54, rewarding his recent good form. Well done Wayne. Thank you to Rapley and Son, Narooma Plaza, for their continued support.
On Sunday we had two rinks of triples and two rinks of pairs with winners decided by Lucky Rinks. Winners were Aurelia Robinson and Jean Vos (skip) who led 13 to nine after 11 ends and just outstayed Sue Sansom and Sandra Breust (skip) for a 15 to 14 win. Second place went to Peter Hawker, Pam Grant and John Downie (skip) who bolted out of the gates to lead 16 to five after 11 ends and they remained in front for a 20 to 13 win against Peter Dillon, Sue Wales and Bruce Rapkins (skip).
To Ponder
The older I grow the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom.
