Organisers of Narooma Rotary Busking Championships have cancelled the 2020 event to avoid the possible spread of COVID-19.
“We are sad this decision is necessary, but we’re confident it’s the right decision for the health and wellbeing of everyone involved,” said Narooma Busking Committee chair Di Riley.
“We really appreciate the support we’ve been receiving from our loyal local sponsors and also from buskers; any funds paid will be refunded.
“The Busking Championships are a much loved fixture of the Narooma calendar that fills the town with music.
“Everyone was looking forward to it to help in the recovery from the summer’s bushfire emergency, but our mainconcern has to be public safety.
“Our committee looks forward to a bigger and more vibrant event in 2021.”
Ms Riley said the committee looked at possibly postponing the event until later this year but the logistics with respect to other events in the Australian National Busking Championships calendar proved too difficult.
The 2020 Narooma Busking Championships was being organised by Narooma Rotarians with community volunteers.
