Here’s Mathew Hatcher - Mayor Eurobodalla Shire putting today’s Council Meeting on the record.
Climate Action Plan unanimously adopted - today’s speakers at Public Forum praised staff and councillors on the plan’s development, with 58 actions for Council and the community to work on.
Comment of the day to Cr David Grace: “This plan needs to be dog-eared and coffee-stained from constant use!”
Some of those speakers called on Council to declare a climate emergency. To make sure all the community has an opportunity to understand and contribute to that debate, councillors discussed looking at it as a separate issue.
Unanimous agreement to join Local Government NSW and other councils lobbying against NSW Government plans to list RFS trucks and equipment on the books of local councils. These depreciation costs, on assets over which councils have no control, impact our profit and loss - in Eurobodalla’s case estimated to be 1.3M over two years.

For those concerned about Mathew's noggin, never fear. Let's just say in the battle of Mayor vs van door, it's Mayor 0, van door 1.

Editor's Note:
The feature record album behind the Mayor is Aloha by the Waikiki Beach Boys. It isn't known why the Mayor chose this album and I can only assume it is dedicated to yours truly as lei is a Hawaiian word that sums me up perfectly - a garland.
For those who didn't grow up in the era of Pacific Island music and the wonderful excesses that came with tropical climes then you might enjoy this video explaining just who the original Waikiki Beach Boys were and why they should be celebrated.
and the 1969 album from the band The Waikiki Beach Boys .... enjoy
