Mathew Hatcher is Eurobodalla’s new mayor. The NSW Electoral Commission declared the result this morning following local government elections on 4 December.
Councillor Hatcher is the shire’s youngest Mayor of the modern era, and was joint recipient of Eurobodalla’s 2020 Local Hero Award for his bushfire recovery work.
He says he looks forward to ‘leading a Council with heart’.
“The incoming councillors have a lot of passion for the community,” he said.
“There’s strength in our diversity.
“We want to spend more time talking with residents. The more we can engage as a Council, the better placed we’ll be.”
Preference counting continues today for the eight councillor positions and an announcement is expected from the NSW Electoral Commission tomorrow.
The new councillors will attend orientation in January before the first meeting of the new Council on Tuesday 8 February.
