Marine Rescue Batemans Bay rescue in the Clyde

Marine Rescue NSW report:

A crew from Marine Rescue Batemans Bay is responding in deteriorating weather conditions to rescue a boater whose 4.5m open runabout is stuck on a sandbank near the bridge on the Clyde River. The crew of Batemans 20 is heading out in rain, hail and strong wind after the boater called for help on VHF Channel 16. The man tried to walk to shore but found himself stuck in mud and has been instructed to return to his vessel as the tide is rising. The call for help was detected by radio operator Margaret Chu at the Marine Rescue Terrey Hills base, monitoring calls to MR Batemans Bay remotely overnight. The crew of BM 20 is Eris Kennedy and Peter Bladwell, with Don Brewster providing communications support in the unit's radio base.
