Long Beach drop in session Nov 3rd

a post by Long Beach Community Association 2536: DROP IN SESSION ON DRAFT COASTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN Thursday 3 November 2022, 2pm to 3pm, RFS shed, Long Beach

Sharing this invite from Council to their information session on the Coastal Management Plan draft next week. This is Council's plan developed by their consultants, definitely and not LBCA’s

Long Beach Protection Works: Eurobodalla Open Coast CMP Information Session Long-term solutions

Council are finalising short term erosion control works at Bay Road Long Beach. We are exploring options to provide a more permanent solution through the Open Coast CMP, which is currently on public exhibition until 9 November 2022.We have heard from the community that the main priority for a management outcome is one that:

• does not disrupt access to the foreshore. The solution must ensure the beach remains accessible for all members of the community, including those with limited mobility and those who use watercraft such as kayaks

• maintains the natural character of the foreshore. Long Beach residents and visitors value the open, unobstructed nature of the beach. Hard structures and vegetation must be low lying to maintain this character

• does not compromise the amenity of the beach. Any hard solution will take up space on the beach. The right solution must balance this beach amenity as well as the road behind the beach

Community engagement

We have been liaising with the community at key stages while preparing the draft CMP and considered the possible solutions for erosion management. These are included in the draft CMP. The community has an opportunity to give feedback while the draft CMP is on public exhibition but we also want to meet you all and hear what you have to say about some of the options available to us so that we can put forward the right solution for Long Beach.

Information session – Have your say

We will host a drop-in session to provide the opportunity for residents to chat with Council staff and our consultants about actions for the Long Beach area, and the draft CMP in general.

When: Thursday 3 November 2022, 2pm to 3pm Where: Long Beach Rural Fire Service, 348 Cullendulla Drive, Long Beach
