Seven local poets from the Well Thumbed Poetry Group will launch an anthology of their work at Well Thumbed Books in Cobargo, Saturday April 23.

Well Thumbed Books used to be a bakery and the old oven still exists, now wedged between crime novels in a back room. For the last few years, several poets have been drawn to this back room; they’ve settled around a long wooden table where a unique combination of musings, experiences and inspirations has blended to create a collaborative collection of poems, titled Chasing The Line: An Anthology From The Back Room.

The anthology features poems by Sandra Taylor, Leigh Crowe, Glenda-Mai Morgan, Peter Storey, Kate Taylor, Kai Jensen and Linda Albertson.

Written with deep sincerity and insightful observations of the worlds around and within us, these are poems of transitions, survival and joy. All the poets pay homage to the beautiful natural environment where they write.

The book is beautifully produced and features samples of artworks created by Peter Storey and Glenda-Mai Morgan, both artists as well as poets.

“As visual artists, we were drawn to the interplay between words on the page and visual stimulation through colour and I think people will enjoy the overall aesthetic of the book,” says Glenda.

“We have all come to poetry from different backgrounds and life experiences and we hope that sharing our poems through Chasing The Line will encourage others to connect with poetry and those quieter moments to discover the resilience and beauty that language holds for us,” says Linda.

Publication of the anthology has been made possible thanks to a funding contribution from the Cobargo Community Association.

Come and celebrate with the group at the launch of Chasing The Line: An Anthology From The Back Room on Saturday 23 April, 10.30am, Well Thumbed Books, Cobargo.

Copies of Chasing The Line will be available for purchase and refreshments will be served.
