Leigh Coloe wins Tuross golf club championship third year in a row

Tuross Head Country Club men’s golf conducted the annual club championship competition over the past weekend. The course, although recovering well from recent heavy rainfall, was a challenge to players yet some excellent scores were achieved.
Leigh Coloe is the club champion for the third year in a row with a score of 143 strokes in the 36 hole competition. Tim Watson was runner up with 153 strokes. Congratulations to both golfers.
B grade scratch winner was Ron Rogers with 175 strokes and Peter Johnston was the best of the C grade players with 184 strokes.
In the handicap award section Steve Gardner was the overall net winner with 143 strokes.
Division winners for the three A, B and C grade sections were won by Marty Booth with 146 net in A grade.
Jim Wade scored 144 net to win B grade and G Smith, with a score of 147, was the best of the C grade competition.
The breakdown of net scores for the two rounds are:
Saturday May 15. A grade division net scores. Leigh Coloe 69, Frank Pomfret 71 and Martin Booth 72.
B grade division: Jim Wade 71, Steve Johnston and Peter Hogan both finished with 72.
C grade: Stephen Gardner 66, Peter Johnston and Paul Pereira were both on 70.
The putting competition was won by Frank Pomfret with 24 putts. Leigh Coloe with 70 strokes had the lowest off the stick score and Peter Hogan won the Golden Shot award with 1.8 m on the second hole.
Sunday May 16.
The best net scores for the day were handed in by Tim Watson on 67, Michael Coloe 71, Mark Haberkorn 71 and Allan Langford and Ron Rogers both finished with 72 net scores.
