Councils are a key engagement point with cafes and restaurants and can support keeping the community safe and small businesses open by helping them understand their COVID Safe obligations under the Public Health Order. In partnership with NSW Health and the Food Authority, the Office of Local Government (OLG) is asking all councils across NSW to work with their cafes and restaurants and have provided a range of materials to support councils in this endeavour. These materials will also be available in key community languages shortly following requests from local councils and other stakeholders. Councils have been advised that they can and should help their small businesses and communities remain safe by providing education materials to small businesses through council social media channels, direct engagement with businesses, and local chambers of commerce, and business groups.
