John Cox Plays A Blinder To Take Out Special Par Event

Fifty four players registered for the Special Par event, a game unique to Tuross Vets where a score less than handicap can result in a multiple plus score on any hole. This event typically benefits the higher handicap golfer.

Winner on the day was John Cox with an unbelievable score of +10 for just nine holes, reinforcing the opportunities to benefit from below handicap scores. John was followed home by Margaret Downey on +7, and Derek Hoare on +5 on count back from Colin Fletcher. Balls or chocolates were won by Teri Swanbury, Rick Brake, Peter MacDonald, Tony Crook and Richard Wharton all on +4, and then Greg Smith, Paul Green, Kaye Lunt, Greg Bush, Ann Ware and Herb Muriwai on +3. This week's infamous Bradman award was a close finish, being taken out by Blaise Madden in a tight finish.

Nearest the pins went to John Cox on the 4th, Greg Smith on the 6th, and to Terti Swanbury and Peter MacDonald on the 7th. Steve Swanbury completed a happy Swanbury morning by taking out the Accuracy drive on the 5th.
