Introducing: Pragmatic Idealists

The newly formed Inlets Regional Arts Services is partnering with South East Arts to present an artist professional development series called Pragmatic Idealists.

Running over 6 consecutive Saturdays from 1 May - 5 June 2021, Pragmatic idealists kicks off with three in-conversation panel discussions that bring together panels of art industry experts followed by three hands-on workshops that focus on the practical skills an artist needs to prepare work for submission and exhibition.

With speakers from major arts institutions such as the National Gallery of Australia, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, The Murray Art Museum Albury, as well as the Bega Valley Regional Art Gallery and Michael Reid gallery, Sydney, The in-conversation series is an exciting chance to hear from arts industry professionals from all over NSW and the ACT.

Inlets co-founder Cat Wilson said:

One of the challenges of being a regional artist is the limited opportunities to hear from a broad range of voices. The support from South East Arts has meant that we have been able to bring some exciting speakers to the area

Formed this year, Inlets was born out of a passion for art and a desire to make a contribution to the growing creative sector outside of urban centres. Alongside workshop programs like Pragmatic Idealists, Inlets also offer installation services and consultancy to regionally based artists, arts organisations, teachers and schools.

Pragmatic Idealists gives artists and anyone interested in the arts a glimpse behind the curtain, in the hope of demystifying the industry and equipping artists with some practical tools needed to approach their career.
