Mayor Innes told ABC News (Thursday 26th 2021) in regards to the extension of the lock-down until September 10th that people "really are conscientiously doing the right thing so I think they are starting to get sick to death of being locked down when there's no cases in our local area".

Just the day before on August 25th NSW Health has advised that fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 have been detected in the sewage system at Merimbula, 85km south of the Eurobodalla. The detection was made from a sample taken over Sunday 22 August and Monday 23 August. To the west of the Shire the announcement of more Covid related findings and cases in Queanbeyan was a prompt reminder to those on the South Coast that caution needed to be applied on that front.
