Operation Chance was established by officers from South Coast Police District to investigate and target dangerous rider behaviour in the Bay and Basin area.

Additional police will be tasked to the Bay and Basin area from within South Coast Police District to support the operation.

Officer in charge of Bay and Basin, Acting Inspector Ian Griffin, said the operation was established in response to an increase in reports from the community.

“We’ve had multiple reports of unregistered trail bikes being ridden in residential areas,” A/Insp Griffin said.

“This kind of behaviour will continue to be a focus for police. We don’t want to see any more lives lost on our roads.”

“We will continue to investigate and take legal action against those who choose to do the wrong thing on our roads and in our parklands.”

Anyone with information about this kind of activity is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
