If you test positive to COVID-19, you may be eligible for antiviral medicines.

Writer: The BeagleThe Beagle

These medicines help stop you getting really sick or needing hospital care. They need to be taken as soon as soon as possible, usually within 5 days from when your symptoms start.

If you’re at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, talk to your doctor today to see if they recommend that you have antiviral medicines.

If you test positive to COVID-19 and can’t get in touch with your doctor, contact the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080 who are able to check if you are eligible for antivirals.

And remember, antiviral medicines are not a substitute for vaccination.
