Hope House hosts Smart Recovery every Monday

Established in 2006, Community Life Batemans Bay Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works with the local community, government, private agencies, commercial businesses, and philanthropic entities. The collaboration allows them to support the wellbeing and recovery of disadvantaged people as independent contributors in society.

Their free programs provide stepping stones to residential stability, work, educational opportunities and encourage meaningful leisure pursuits for both Hope House residents and external clients.

Hope House is an accommodation facility for homeless men from all cultural backgrounds intent on recovering from any of a myriad of setbacks in life.

It offers a safe, secure, drug and alcohol-free home for up to six men in single or twin rooms for a maximum period of six months, during which time they are assisted to regain confidence and self-esteem, participate in education and training programs to ultimately secure employment and independent housing.

Applicants for accommodation and participation in the Hope House programs may refer themselves or be referred by an external agency and are bound by terms and conditions of a rental agreement and a client code of conduct to ensure harmony within the House.

Hope House residents are assisted to become proficient in managing their own financial commitments, cooking, washing, and maintaining personal hygiene standards and any personal problems faced by our clients are addressed immediately by staff in a professional manner.

The programmes assisting the recovery of our Hope House residents and those clients who attend from the local community address many of the basic needs of men, including a sense of belonging, security, friendship, health and wellbeing, pride, and self-esteem.

The programmes offered enable residents to address lifestyle choices and addictive behaviour, accelerate mental and physical recovery, and undertake education and training to enhance their prospects in life via participation in structured, daily programmes, entailing both group discussion and targeted individual case management as agreed with our professional counsellors.

Adding to the tools already at hand Hope House also offers SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) via a weekly, group programme assisting people with problematic behaviours which may include addiction to drugs, narcotics, alcohol, gambling, shopping, food or the internet.

Guided by trained peers and professional counsellors, participants help themselves and one another using cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) motivational tools and techniques.

Hope House in Batemans Bay are now running a new weekly SMART Recovery meeting every Monday at 12pm til 1:30pm at 6 Herarde Street, Batemans Bay.
