Health Infrastructure is in the early planning stages of developing Batemans Bay HealthOne to deliver a modern and convenient health care hub to the Batemans Bay region.
The community of Batemans Bay will benefit from a new $20 million HealthOne facility to ensure that more health services are delivered to the region providing a one-stop model of integrated care for the community.
The model will bring together Commonwealth-funded general practice and state-funded primary and community healthcare services, including dental, pharmacy and allied health professionals, to create a healthcare hub in one convenient location.
It is envisaged that the $20 million HealthOne in Batemans Bay will complement the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital by delivering, what is hoped, a facility that will provide community healthcare services, including GPs, allied health services, child and family services, community mental health and provision for immediate care.
Will it be a new building, a set of buildings (described as Hub and Spoke) or will it be a connection of services that already exist that are linked by improved paperwork and administration practices? That is yet to be revealed.
All we know is that it is "one step closer". That also means we don't actually know when it will be delivered or what the $20 million allocation will pay for.
NSW Health say:
"In practical terms, integration for HealthOne NSW means that the planning, administration and provision of primary and community health care services is integrated. In establishing HealthOne NSW services, the process of transition from autonomous services, often provided at separate locations some distance from each other, to integrated services, can take time. Service partners may take a staged approach, starting with collaborative or coordinated arrangements. Successful integration is an ongoing adaptive process rather than a one-off initiative, it is organisational systems and processes, the work of teams and individuals that ultimately achieve the alignment and coordination associated with integration to deliver stepped changes for client and population benefit".
Member for Gilmore , Fiona Phillips, said in May 2022:
“We’re in the middle of a full-blown healthcare crisis here on the South Coast and we’ve been on the receiving end of cuts and neglect caused by Federal and State Liberal Governments for years."
The community are invited to meet the project team and find out more about the healthcare facility at a meeting on Tuesday, December 13th, 2023, 1 to 3pm, to be held in the Batemans Bay SEARMS Meeting Room, 2 Museum Place, Batemans Bay. No RSVP is required.
