Have Your Say On Improving Pedestrian Safety In Mogo

Member for Bega Andrew Constance has today advised that Transport for NSW is developing options to improve pedestrian safety in Mogo. Following consultation with the community late last year, further investigation and design work has resulted in the development of proposed options. Mr Constance said Transport for NSW is inviting the community to provide feedback until 22 December on the proposed options to make Mogo a safer, better connected and more appealing place.

“Following feedback from the community further investigation and design work will be undertaken to refine the designs,” Mr Constance said.

“Transport for NSW received feedback from more than 240 members of the community in November last year highlighting that pedestrian safety was critical to making Mogo a more accessible place for locals and visitors to shop and explore the village.” I ask that all members of the community who have an interest in this plan to provide feedback so the best design can be developed, ensuring the continuation of Mogo’s popularity and future growth. Options that would be investigated include, installing traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing, improved signs, the removal of some parking on the Princes Highway, investigation of alternative parking locations and improved access to the Church Street carpark. “Improved pedestrian safety and access will support the growth of local businesses and the economy in the area. Improvements will help support tourism and allow residents and visitors to easily access the town centre,” Mr Constance said. Pedestrian safety improvements at Mogo are part of the short-term priorities in the 20-year plan for the Princes Highway upgrade program. A bypass of Mogo is outside the scope of this consultation. This consultation is focused on getting feedback from the community to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in Mogo. This aligns with the 20-year plan for the Princes Highway upgrade. The development and delivery of improved pedestrian facilities in Mogo does not preclude the future planning of a bypass should it be required in the future.
