The Beagle Editor, There is an ad on Facebook Sponsored and Paid for by The Greens NSW that asks "What could we do with NOT ONE, BUT TWO Greens councillors in the Eurobodalla?" The advert suggests that with two Greens on Council they could achieve wins comparable to Wollongong. This is naive rubbish. * doubling the investment in footpaths, particularly focused around schools. The listing of this shows they have no idea of the existing Footpath Strategy that is in place or the budget and priorities already in the pipeline. * weekly FOGO for recycling for 80,000 households, reducing landfill waste and methane emissions and generating compost. The listing of this ignores the fact that Eurobodalla has a very poor record of being able to responsibly recycle. Bega has FOGO and are continually having to deal with all sorts or garbage mixed in with FOGO. How much will this cost and where is the business case? * 220kw PV solar array on the council carpark rooftop. This item ignores the fact that the Eurobodalla Council have been proactively installing solar panels on as many facilities as is practicable. Greens drew our attention to Council not putting a solar system on a new dunny block at Gundary. Get real. Is this their idea of responsible spending? * the first safe separated cycleway from East to West across Wollongong CBD along Smith St. By adding this it implies our Council hasn't done its bit. Well hello and wake up and smell the roses. Look at all the shared cycleways in the shire. * full 360° turnaround from verge garden penalty notices to verge garden guidelines, demonstration gardens and grant support Again they imply that Eurobodalla is doing nothing. What is this then? Verge garden pilot program * more funding for live music. Really - ratepayers to pay for more live music. Maybe we should buy guitars and bongos and all sit around singing Kum Bay Ya. * 5000 new advanced trees to shade streets and playgrounds. Do you have any idea about the https://campbellpage.com.au/introducing-ecocrews/ program? * changing Council's electricity contract from generic coal fired power to commitment for a renewable energy Power Purchase Agreement. If you are bringing attention to this as an accomplishment over the past four years in Wollongong than what exactly has Pat McGinlay been doing for the Greens over the past five years? Nothing according to you. Talk to Pat about Green investments. * $700,000 worth of street bulb light bulbs switched to LED. Well Golly. You raise this but fail to recognise Eurobodalla replaced over 1,000 high-energy lights with energy-efficient LEDs resulting in a 368 MWh per year reduction in power use - that’s about the same as taking 100 cars off the road. After financing, the project reduced Council’s operating maintenance and electricity costs by approximately $110,000 a year.

“The savings will allow us to further invest in delivering the actions in Council’s Eurobodalla Emissions Reduction Plan 2017-2021, which sets out Council’s strategy to minimise greenhouse gas emissions.” * the Figtree mountain bike track and Byarong Creek rehabilitation. What dare I ask is the Narooma Bike Track and the Surf Beach Rehabilitaion - blue cheese? * many playground, outdoor gym and pool repairs and upgrades. Oh, and Eurobodalla didn't do any of this? * council flying the rainbow flag for marriage equality, and all the fabulous Pride Month events. What did you want Eurobodalla to do? They are an inclusive employment workplace. Do you want the Rainbow Flag on a new pole out the front of the Chambers? The Green advertisement says "If this sounds like the kind of action you want from council, get behind your Greens candidates on 4th December!" You know what kind of action I want from a councillor. Informed. It is evident that you have little idea of what our council workers have achieved. Very disappointed. Was a Green supporter but can't support this type of rubbish.
