Marine Rescue NSW report a dad and his two young sons are safely back on land after a Sunday outing on their boat went awry earlier today.
The trio had headed out from Mossy Point, south of Batemans Bay but were stranded offshore when the engine of their 3.9m runabout failed in deteriorating conditions.
Two Marine Rescue Batemans Bay crews and Surf Life Saving NSW volunteers deployed to rescue the trio as quickly as possible ahead of forecast gale force winds, with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters also tasked.
All three passengers were transferred by Surf Life Saving jet ski crew from the runabout on to rescue vessel Batemans 30 for the trip back to shore.
Despite initial concerns the boys were suffering from hypothermia, they are reported to be well. All were wearing lifejackets.
MRNSW Monaro Regional Operations Manager Glenn Sullivan said the rapid response by the emergency services had ensured the best possible outcome.
"It wasn't the day they'd planned but dad and his boys are now safely back on shore, which is great news," Mr Sullivan said.
He thanked all the emergency services personnel for their seamless and professional response.
The MR Batemans Bay crew members were Eris Kennedy, Mick Kelly, Peter Withington, Peter Bladwell and George Brown, with communications support by David Roulston, Meredith Peck and Susan Diamond at the unit's Hanging Rock radio base.
