Girls on Fire is coming to Mogo
** APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN ** Girls on Fire is proud to announce a new COVID-safe and interactive program for teenage girls this November (2nd-15th) at various NSW locations including MOGO. “Virtually Possible” Girls Fire and Resilience Program will combine some online learning with a 1-day hands-on practical session to introduce girls aged 16-19 to working and volunteering in our fire and emergency services. Applications for the multi-agency, experiential learning program are now open for participants, mentors and activity facilitators. Locations include Sydney, Dubbo, Newcastle, Mogo, Kempsey/Port Macquarie and Griffith. To apply and find out more, go to www.girlsonfire.com.au The program will still focus on empowering young women (Aged 16-19) by teaching them firefighting and emergency services skills, increasing their confidence and resilience, encourage problem-solving, teamwork and leadership, and introducing them to the possibility of a career or volunteering in the fire and emergency services. These programs will also feature an additional community resilience component so the participants can make an active contribution to help their communities prepare or recover from fire and emergencies.
Just like the camp, this program will also provide an opportunity for existing emergency services personnel to develop their leadership skills by volunteering as Mentors or Activities Facilitators during the program.
