Gayle MacAlpine Blows Field Away in Tuross Vets Special Par Event

On what was a morning with rain threatening to disrupt proceedings, a good field of 61 players registered for the Tuross Head Vets golf Special Par event. This is an event unique to Tuross Vets that is based on the regular Par event, but where scores below par result in multiple plusses. It is also an event that tends to favour higher handicappers. Winner on the day was Gayle MacAlpine with a fine score of +7 for the nine holes played. Ted Quinlan was runner up with a score of +4, with Ian Miller edging out Paul Coffey for third place on count back , both players recording a score of +2. Balls or chocolates were won by Greg Thornton, Rob Ware, Mike Birks and Blaise Madden with scores of +1, and Paul Pereira, Peter McRae, Leonie Snodgrasss, Peg Nevett, Richard Wharton and Peter Frost on square. The Bradman award this week went to an out of form Kevin Dukes, whilst nearest the pins were won by Rob Ware on the 4th, Greg Thornton on the 6th, and by Gayle MacAlpine and Ian Miller on the 7th. Ian Manton took out the Accurate drive award on the 5th.
