Four Fabulous Flutes in Durras

he Durras Progress Hall will be the venue for concert by Eclectix, a quartet of professional flute players who will treat the audience to music of many styles, including new music by members of the group. The musicians of this unusual ensemble are Lisa Breckenridge from Sydney, Emma Knott

from Moss Vale and Fran and Keith Griffin from Junee.

The concert will take place at Durras Progress Hall on Saturday August 13 at 3 pm.

An old windmill, a flash flood, the aftermath of bushfire, a busy train ... these will be experienced during the concert. Eclectix uses many different sizes of flutes to enhance the wide range of colours and textures this ensemble can expertly conjure, caress and cajole. Fran Griffin, an internationally awarded and published composer, is one of several Australian composers whose music will be featured. Her new work ‘Summer Cloudburst’ will receive its world premiere.

The intimate and acoustically lively space of the hall will provide a wonderful setting for a relaxing winter's afternoon hour of sometimes dazzling, sometimes evocative flute music. There are very few professional flute quartets in Australia, so the opportunity to hear this music is not be be missed.

Eclectix regularly uses South Durras as a rehearsal base as Emma is part owner of a house which was previously her grandparents’.
