Four day South Coast police operation arrests 40 for traffic offences

Forty people have been arrested for a range of traffic offences following a four-day operation on the South Coast.

Between Thursday 22 and Sunday 25 April 2021, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and South Coast Police District conducted Operation Generator, targeting roadways between Narooma and Eden.

The high-visibility police operation focused on dangerous driver behaviours, particularly drink and drug driving, street offences and anti-social behaviour.

As a result, 40 people were arrested for a range of offences including drink driving, disqualified driving, drug driving, drug possession, outstanding warrants and failing to leave licenced premises.

During the operation, 59 traffic infringement notices were issued for unsafe driving practices including speeding, mobile phone and seatbelt offences, and nine drivers tested positive to the presence of prohibited drugs.

Police continue to urge the public to report unsafe driver behaviour to police or Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about dangerous driver behaviour is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
