🛑Eurobodalla Emergency Operations Centre – flood update 10 February 2pm🛑
🌧Flooding
The SES Flood Safety Watch for areas between the Hunter and Bega remains current. This means people living or working along rivers and streams in the Eurobodalla must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
NSW SES Moruya report rain is easing. Flooding is more likely to be moderate in the Moruya River with reduced potential impacts on Moruya CBD and low lying residential areas.
Residents and business owners should however continue to monitor SES updates.
More than 300mm of rain has fallen at Araluen in the upper Deua River. The river is rising rapidly as it becomes tidal closer to Moruya township, where it is known as Moruya River.
Areas west of Bodalla including Nerrigundah and Belowra have been isolated thanks to more than 200mm of rain causing the Tuross River to rise rapidly.
NSW SES and the EOC continue to monitor the levels closely.
Don’t drive, ride or walk through flood waters.
To mitigate urban flooding, Eurobodalla Council crews have opened McLeods Creek at Surfside and Joes Creek in Batehaven.

🚧Road closures
These roads west of the highway in Eurobodalla’s Deau and Belowra valleys will remain closed due to flooding until further notice.
River Road, Nelligen
Old Bolaro, Nelligen
Old Nelligen Road, Nelligen
Araluen Road at Kiora bridge
Eurobodalla Road, Bodalla (and beyond)
Haslingden Street, Moruya, near the showgrounds is closed due to flooding until further notice.
🚗Road conditions
Motorists should take extra care and continue monitoring Live Traffic. Local roads already have water over them - please take extra care driving, drive with lights on, reduce your speed, and leave plenty of room between you and the car ahead.
Minor slips have occurred on the Kings Highway, but the road is open. Take extra care and monitor Live Traffic.
🥅Sportsground closures
All Eurobodalla sportsgrounds are closed until further notice due to rain.
💧Deep Creek Dam and water use
Eurobodalla’s water storage Deep Creek Dam is filling. Friday morning the dam was at 47.7% and reached 51% at 10am today. Water in the rivers is too dirty to pump at this stage, and the time water can continue to be pumped will depend on the extent of rain in the upper catchment. Level 4 water restrictions remain in place.
Council’s water and sewer systems have been prepared to run without power if required.
🏄♀️Waterways and swimming
Rain will see ash, sediment and debris from fire-affected areas running into our creeks, rivers and the ocean. In normal circumstances Council says don’t swim for three days after heavy rain. But the burnt landscape means water quality is expected to be poor for longer. If the beach looks murky, please don’t swim in it.
💡Power
No report of power loss today, however, residents should be prepared to lose power at home or work if heavy rain continues. Call Essential Energy on 13 20 80 if power is lost.
📢Community updates
Eurobodalla’s Emergency Operations Centre will provide community updates as required. These are distributed to media, social media, and community associations. Stay updated with local radio, SES website, Live Traffic. If your life is in danger call Triple Zero (000).
