Eurobodalla Emergency Operations Centre

🛑Eurobodalla Emergency Operations Centre - community update🛑

🔥The Clyde Mountain and Badja fires are burning at emergency level. Aircraft are unable to fly due to strong winds. There is an immediate threat to homes in the Moruya, West Moruya, Mogendoura and Wamban areas. Moruya CBD residents may stay in place, but those on the bush-fringes of Moruya should attend the evacuation centre.

If you are in the area of Dignams Creek, take action now. If you are on the western side of the Princes Highway, leave now if the path is clear. A fire is burning towards Wagonga Drive area and residents should leave now if the path is clear. Bega and Moruya evacuation centres are open.

If you are in the area of Wallaga Lake, monitor conditions and be alert for spot fires.

🏡Moruya evacuation centre now open The evacuation centre in Moruya opened today at 2.30pm today for residents needing to evacuate and will stay open until no longer required.

📍Moruya evacuation centre: Moruya Basketball stadium, in the showgrounds, Albert Street, Moruya.

📍Bega evacuation centre: Bega showgrounds.

🚗Travel Princes Highway is closed at Dignams Creek between Bermagui Road and Cobargo village.

Kings Highway closed in both directions from Bay Ridge/Old Punt Road.

Araluen Road and Larrys Mountain Road are closed.

Take extra care on the roads. Look out for emergency services vehicles. Winds are blowing burnt debris and branches on roads, so take extra care when driving.

💧Water Please save Eurobodalla’s water supply and do not use hoses or sprinklers to wet down your property unless you can see glowing embers or fire.

🎒What to take to the evacuation centre If you decide to evacuate, take a bag with medications, prescriptions, important documents, precious items, wallet, phone and charger, clothing for all seasons and toiletries for a few days. If you can, bring your own bedding - blankets, towels, swags, doonas, pillows – and your own food if possible.

People with babies and young children, please bring nappies, formula, baby food, toys and activities.

Small pets are welcome. Please bring pet food and bowls. Large animals can be accommodated under owner-care at Moruya Showground. Local Land Services reps are onsite to assist with animal welfare.

People with camping equipment may camp on the grounds of the evacuation centre. Important: tents must be packed up and stored in cars well before the firefront arrives. Embers will burn tents.

🔍Register your whereabouts Once you have established where you will be, please register online with Register.Find.Reunite. Registering online so family and friends can find you without contacting response teams allows them focus on those most in need.

💡Power Power has been lost in Moruya, Broulee and Mossy Point areas. Please prepare for more outages. Generators are in place at the Moruya evacuation centre and other critical infrastructure including water reservoirs, petrol stations, hospitals and aged care facilities.

📢Community updates Eurobodalla’s Emergency Operations Centre will provide community updates as required, distributed to media, social media, community associations and the evacuation centre.
