Eurobodalla Council seeks DA fees for burnt out homes as other council's waive them

The Beagle Editor, Unbelievably, Eurobodalla Shire Council is still charging DA fees for those having to rebuild after losing their homes in the fires earlier this year.  This was confirmed by a Planner within the Planning Department.  It’s no wonder some people are in tears over this apparent greedy grab for even more money at a time when people are most stressed.

By way of comparison Wingecarribee has waived ALL Development Application fees for fire affected owners now rebuilding.

That means ZERO DA fee to residents who have lost their homes in the Wingecarribee Shire.

Wingecarribee Mayor Duncan Gair is quoted as saying

"And as such this will now result in a zero DA fee to the residents who have lost their homes."

Will Eurobodalla Shire Council follow suit?

One would imagine that those having to now rebuild would have paid DA fees to Council when they initially built their homes or if they bought already existing properties, they would have paid stamp duty to the State Government.   Either way, they had to pay some sort of tax.

On a community support facebook page, Mayor Liz Innes asks  for all those affected to call her personally on 0417411851.

Next Council meeting is on 23rd June 2020.  Let’s see if this matter is on the agenda.
