Eleven arrested in Shoplifting Operation in Batemans Bay

Eleven people have been arrested following a shoplifting operation in Batemans Bay.

The operation, comprising officers from South Coast Police District, targeted shoplifting offences at supermarkets in Batemans Bay last week (Thursday 23 and Friday 24 April 2020).

During the operation, one person was issued a move on direction, 14 people were searched, and 11 people were arrested for various shoplifting offences.

Of note: Thursday 23 April 2020: • About 12:30pm a 58-year-old woman from Batehaven was arrested for shoplifting at a supermarket in Batemans Bay. She was charged with shoplifting and is expected to face Batemans Bay Local Court on 6 July 2020. She has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months. • About 5:30pm a 27-year-old woman from Surfside was arrested for shoplifting and issued with a $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notice. She has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months. • About 4:30pm a 63-year-old male from North Batemans Bay was arrested for shoplifting and issued with a $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notice. He has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months. • About 4:30pm a 33-year-old female from Broulee was arrested for shoplifting and issued with a $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notice. She has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months. Friday 24 April 2020: • About 9:30am on Friday 24th April a 36 year old female from Bawley Point was arrested for shoplifting in Batemans Bay. The female was issued with a $300 on the spot Criminal Infringment Notice and banned for a period of 12 months from attending certain supermarkets. • About 11:30am a 75-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman from North Batemans Bay were arrested for shoplifting. They were both issued with $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notices and banned for a period of 12 months from attending certain supermarkets. • About 12pm a 45-year-old woman from Catalina was arrested for shoplifting at a supermarket in Batemans Bay. She was charged with shoplifting and is expected to face Batemans Bay Local Court on 6 July 2020. She has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months. • About 2:30pm a 49-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman from Batemans Bay were arrested for shoplifting. They were both issued with $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notices and banned for a period of 12 months from attending certain Supermarkets. • About 4pm a 31-year-old man from Batemans Bay was arrested for shoplifting and issued with a $300 on the spot Criminal Infringement Notice. He has been banned from attending certain supermarkets for 12 months.
