The news that the Morrison and his committee of Perrottet and McDiven would select the Liberal candidate for Eden Monaro at the eleventh hour has seen one of the two possibles walk away leaving a virtual unknown to accept the selection of the panel.
With no one else to contest the challenge the chances of Liberals doing any good at all in Eden Monaro are "Buckleys" given that the local branch members are disgusted that the Prime Minister has stepped in to deliver his own "Captain's Pick" denying them the right to choose who represents them.
Much like the backlash that Morrison faced in the last election when he parachuted in Warren Mundine it is already impacting on the potential of any win as Liberal Party members also walk away in disgust.
It appears that Jerry Nockles is happy to ignore the disappointment of his fellow Liberal party members and be the "Captain's Pick". Much like Warren Mundine's selection the Prime Minister's endorsement and selection (by default) might well be the kiss of death for Mr Nockle's chances.
