Motorists in NSW and the ACT are reminded to drive safely and to remember that double demerits are will be place for four days over the Labour Day (October) long weekend (Friday 2 October to Monday 5 October inclusive).

Double demerit points apply for speeding, seat belt, motorcycle helmet and mobile phone offences during holiday periods and run from midnight on the start date to midnight on the finish date.

Please also be aware that this is the third double demerit period in which active Mobile Phone Detection Cameras are being enforced and fines issued.  Drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period will be hit with a $457 fine and 10 demerits.

Please drive safely and take extra care on the roads.
