Dalmeny/Narooma Bushwalkers Report

WALKERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO STEPPING OUT OF 2020 AND INTO 2021:

This is the final report for 2020. One easy 8 klm walk was held strolling around Tuross with a fish and chip lunch looking over the water reminiscing about the past year. A Christmas get together was held for 30 members on Saturday at Judi and Onno de Smeth home at Bodalla. Jan Thomas our President gave a brief summation of the years activities which were limited firstly by the bushfires and secondly Covid restrictions. In the latter half of the year we managed to get going with walks having limited numbers. A mini camp was held in and around the Shoalhaven District in mainly coastal unburnt country, with limited numbers attending. Other planned trips were postponed due to travel restrictions but the local Spring walking program was completed with some restriction on numbers.

We still managed to walk into many interesting places, burnt and unburnt areas, easy and hard walks, some North and some Southern locations which provided some interest for everybody.

The Club has over 100 members and has been in existence since 1986 . This year another step was taken in Affiliating with Bushwalking NSW . This was an important step and will set this Club up for many years to come; many thanks to Wendy Selby for pushing this along. Now we have a break for the summer period, as mentioned before, the heat makes it a bit uncomfortable to walk and we will start up again in February with some limited activities, then we really get going in March. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page as individual members will get to and see interesting locations over the summer and pop up a picture or two. All the best to our followers for Xmas and the New Year. Let's all look forward to a more settled 2021. By David Maidment
