Councillors: Where’s the dignity for the locals on Araluen Road?

The Beagle Editor,

Five months on and the Eurobodalla Shire Council hasn’t a clue on how or when the Araluen road is going to be opened.

As an alternative route to Moruya, the ESC reopen the narrow route down the west side of Wandera, a road previously deemed dangerous and unsuitable. Worse still they fix a small section of the route only to leave the rest as an unkept fire/trig trial.

Where’s the dignity for the locals who have lost their homes in the fires and can’t rebuild because tradies won’t drive on the road?

Where’s the dignity for the locals who have medical needs but too scared to travel on a road because they feel unsafe to traverse it?

Where’s the transparency and accountability of council?

In perspective, we don’t have a councillor who lives up here unlike other places in the shire where the roads are well kept and maintained! Danny Jessop
