Narooma's Councillor Lindsay Brown intends seeking his fellow Councillors support at next Tuesday's Council meeting to bring forward all Council spending on items such as printers, furniture, lawn mowers, whipper snippers, sundry equipment, and higher value equipment such motor vehicles, utes, trucks etc. Basically anything that can be purchased locally now. Councillor Brown, who many in the Narooma area will recognise as the key Council representative at the Narooma Evacuation Centre and playing a major role in assisting the dissemination of information and support has put forward in his recommendation " it is my request that council consider bringing forward any budgeted expense scheduled that can stimulate the local economy." "The business community is currently bleeding and needs a vote of confidence from Council immediately. This action would provide a strong message to the broader community of Council’s commitment to recovery. The need is to ensure our local businesses get some immediate stimulation." Showing his support for the residents of the Nerrigundah region Councillor Brown was on-site this week for the delivery of a container to the local community (below). Quota, Rotary and Lions purchased a shipping container for residents of Nerrigundah to store donated equipment. The donation was coordinated by Councillor Lindsay Brown and the delivery was made by Bay Removals for free.
