Council to move to revisit Mini Golf lease buyback

Eurobodalla Council , in their planning the new Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre ‘the Centre’ on the southern end of the Mackay Park precinct in Batemans Bay identified that there would be no room for the existing Mini Golf. To allow the project to proceed in the most efficient manner, it is necessary to acquire the Batemans Bay Mini Golf lease. The report before Council advises that it is not the intention of the Mini Golf owners to set up elsewhere in the shire following the buy out of their Batemans Bay CBD lease.

Above: Original Extract from Council's Feb 25th, 2020 agenda page 16 (now removed) At the Council meeting on 11 December 2018, Councillors approved the acquisition of the Mini Golf in accordance with details contained in a confidential report that included, at the time, a valuation that had been obtained and negotiations with the operator. Those negotiations have reached a mutually acceptable position but with a change to the acquisition date and discussions between the respective valuers Council staff now believe that it is appropriate that Council re-endorse the acquisition. Mini Golf has a lease from Council as Crown Land manager that commenced on 1 July 2012 and is due to expire on 30 June 2022. Council state that "The current site of the Mini Golf is in the footprint of the proposed Centre and so acquisition of the lease allows the Centre development to proceed in the most efficient manner to deliver optimal community outcomes."
