Eurobodalla Council’s doors remain open for now, however General Manager Dr Catherine Dale is encouraging residents to do their business with Council online or over the phone.
Dr Dale says everyone must play their part in limiting the spread of coronavirus, and, where possible, that means staying home.
“We have a vulnerable population in Eurobodalla, with over 30 percent of residents aged over 65. It’s important we slow the spread of this virus,”

“To help, residents can conduct most of their Council business over the phone, or online. Services like paying rates or water bills, viewing and submitting tenders, planning certificates and development applications, including bushfire rebuilding, can all be done without visiting in person. Dr Dale said non-essential events run by Council had been cancelled in line with state and federal announcements, and pools, libraries and halls will close from 5pm Wednesday.
“Libraries will close to the public, however, a click and collect service will operate and we’ll provide more information about that tomorrow.
“The Bas will close, and all bookings of Council’s halls, community centres and sporting facilities will be cancelled and no further bookings taken. A couple of known essential services like Meals on Wheels will remain in place.
“Moruya and Batemans Bay swimming pools will close for the season from Wednesday afternoon.
"Narooma indoor swimming centre closed until further notice on Monday in line with government guidelines.
“Council-run aged care and NDIS services will continue to provide essential services to vulnerable community members. Group and social activities have been cancelled.
Dr Dale said while more impacts are expected, residents can be confident in Council’s planning for essential services like water and sewer, or kerbside collection.
“Staff working in essential service areas are being split into isolated teams or working from home where appropriate to ensure business continuity,” she said.
“Staff with symptoms of colds or fever must stay home and we’ve provided additional sanitation measures for staff and visitors,” she said.
“We are all responsible in managing the coronavirus. I encourage everyone to become familiar with the NSW and federal health authority websites to stay up to date with accurate information.”
