Council Meeting, Public Forum and Public Access Tuesday 8 November

Writer: The BeagleThe Beagle
  • Public Access (any topic) starts 9.30am. Four speakers registered: one re Wagonga Scenic Drive, one re DA approval procedures, and two re coastal management program.

  • Public Forum (agenda items) starts 10.30am. Two speakers registered: one re Barkala Street/Coastal Court petition, one re Crown land management.

  • Council Meeting starts 12.30pm. Here’s the agenda Agenda of Ordinary Meeting - Tuesday, 8 November 2022

Council Meeting highlights to expect:

  • Look to see if the Director of Planning is brought to task for breeching Council meeting protocols when he called a Point of Order against a Councillor requesting the councillor desist from saying something the Director disagreed with. Only Councillors can call a Point of Order. The Director of Planning is required to sit in the chamber and answer questions if asked. His outburst was well out of line and caused undue disrupt. It will be a widely considered a sign of weakness by the councillors and the Chair if the Directors actions go unmentioned, with the least possible outcome being his public apology to the Council chambers and to the Public Gallery.

  • Responses from Ministers to advocacy letters, including zombie developments, native forest logging, worker housing for state projects.

  • Petition to defer resealing of Barkala Street and Coastal Court in Dalmeny until stormwater issues are fixed.

  • Council to apply to become manager of Crown land on the Bay waterfront and around Mogo Trails for better coordination.
