Council looking for a name for Mackay Park Regional pool and theatre

Eurobodalla Council are asking "What’s in a name?" and are asking the community to "help shape new centre’s brand." Stakeholder workshops will be held at Hanging Rock Sports Club Function Centre on Tuesday 2 February (three sessions from 1-2pm, 4-5pm and 6-7pm) and on Wednesday 3 February (two sessions from 9-10am and 11am-noon).

In their latest media release Council says "Eurobodalla community members are invited to be part of stakeholder workshops that will help shape the branding and naming of the new Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre.

"Brand design specialist CITIZEN is working with Eurobodalla Council on the centre’s branding and naming and will host a series of workshops in early February to share initial ideas and gain community feedback.

"CITIZEN has been involved in the development of many iconic brands, including the National Museum of Australia, Vivid Festival, Australian Olympic Committee, Virgin Mobile and Western Sydney University, to name a few.

"Eurobodalla Council’s planning director Lindsay Usher said branding and communications would be an important element of the new centre.

Mr Usher said: “The Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre has only ever intended to be the development project name, not the final name of the facility,”

“The task now is to develop an engaging brand for the centre that will last for many years, attracting visitation from both locals and tourists alike.”

The stakeholder workshops will be held at Hanging Rock Sports Club Function Centre on Tuesday 2 February (three sessions from 1-2pm, 4-5pm and 6-7pm) and on Wednesday 3 February (two sessions from 9-10am and 11am-noon).

Due to COVID-safe requirements, numbers are strictly limited and bookings are essential.

Representatives from the more than 90 potential user groups that attended stakeholder workshops in 2018 and 2019 to focus on the centre’s design have been sent written invitations and will receive priority to attend.

Limited spaces are available for other community members; these will be allocated on a first-in, best dressed basis.

To register your interest in attending email Stephen.phipps@esc.nsw.gov.au, nominating your preferred session, by Tuesday 19 January.
