Cobargo police operation

2EC reports: Cobargo locals have been asking the question, what happened yesterday? It comes after a large police operation that occurred on Monday (June 27) at a property on Avernus Street, near the Cobargo Bermagiu Road in Cobargo. Members of the public were urged to avoid the area with a number of surrounding homes evacuated as a precaution, and all those who remained in nearby homes encouraged to stay inside. A NSW Police spokesperson said safety was a concern at the time however a man was arrested late yesterday afternoon and the operation was resolved thereafter. "The police operation was resolved yesterday evening (June 27)," the NSW Police Spokesperson said. "A man was arrested and taken to hospital for an assessment." He was released from hospital and taken to Bega Police Station. The man was charged with: • 2x Assault actual bodily harm • 2x Intimidation • Malicious damage • Breach AVO • Use offensive instrument to avoid apprehension • Possess prohibited drug He was refused bail and will appear at Bega Local Court today (Tuesday 28 June).
