CLUB MALUA to rebuild following devastating loss

Malua Bay’s beloved community club, Club Malua, will be rebuilt, following its loss in the devastating New Year’s Eve bushfires. The club, part of the Cabra Bowls Group, was among dozens of properties destroyed when bushfires swept through the South Coast. “I know many locals will be devastated by the loss of their club, particularly given the recent renovations,” said Jay Porter, CEO of the Cabra Bowls Group. “Although the physical building is lost, it’s not a building that makes a club, it is the people. “The resilience of Australians is remarkable, and I can assure you that Club Malua will be rebuilt and returned once again to the heart of the community.” In announcing the club’s rebuild, Mr Porter also paid tribute to the countless number of people impacted by the bushfires, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting the fires. “In particular, we remember those who have lost their lives, and the family members and loved one they have left behind. Their pain is unimaginable,” he said. “As the fires continue to burn in NSW and across the country, tribute must be paid to those who volunteer to fight these fires. “Many properties and lives have been saved due to the outstanding efforts of those men and women who risk their lives to help others. “Everyone in Malua Bay has been left devastated by these fires, dozens of people have lost their homes, the community has lost their club, and we will all re-build together.” The Cabra Bowls Group has already begun preliminary discussions to ensure Club Malua is rebuilt as quickly as possible. “I have been in contact with our insurers and we are already starting the rebuild process,” said Mr Porter. “Whilst this will be time-consuming, our commitment is steadfast to deliver a first-class facility to our members. “2020 has not started well for our club, however we will be back and better than ever.”
