Charlie Watts, the Rolling Stones drummer has died aged 80.


The news was reported to media by his publicist on Tuesday (GMT) who said that Watts “passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family. “Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of The Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation,” Mr Doherty said. Watts joined the Stones in 1963 and remained the bands drummer for 60 years, just weeks ago it was announced that Watts would miss the band's 2021 US tour dates to recover from a medical procedure. Watts was treated for throat cancer in 2004.
