Captain Oldrey netball courts vandalised

Cleaning vandalised netball courts at Broulee’s Captain Oldrey Park has commenced, although the cost to fix the damage remains unclear at this stage.

Last weekend, vandals drove a vehicle onto the $470,000 courts, disfiguring the acrylic court surfaces. Eurobodalla Council’s manager of recreation Nathan Farnell said Council staff were working to repair the damage.

“It may be that we need to bring a professional contractor in, so we are not yet sure of the cost or timing but it is a high priority for us,” Mr Farnell said.

“In the meantime, we will use timber logs and mesh fencing to close potential vehicle access points until permanent fencing or bollards are installed.”

The netball courts are part of a regional netball facility being developed at Captain Oldrey Park, along with the renovated multipurpose amenity building, car parking, inclusive playground and nature trail.

Anyone with information about the vandalism can report it anonymously to police at https://crimestoppers.com.au or 1800 333 000.
