Buy Regional , Buy Local this Christmas

This Christmas give a gift that really makes a difference. The NSW government is encouraging us to Buy Regional (yes, that includes the Eurobodalla)

In their campaign they say "NSW is facing one of the worst droughts on record. The impacts are being felt well beyond the farm gate in all parts of the regional economy, including retail trade and small businesses."

One of the best ways you can support a regional community like ours is to Buy Regional this Christmas.

The NSW government suggest a variety of product categories where you can buy direct from the producer or small business owner. Some ideas that we can apply locally:

Wine and Beer

Stock up on regional wines, micro-brewed beers, distilled delights like our South Coast Gins and unusual soft drinks that will add sparkle to your holiday celebrations.

Looking for pieces that have a certain individual style? You’ll find inspiration at the markets and many of our local boutiques that carry made-to-order handcrafted leather accessories and beautiful clothes you and your friends will love.

From farm raised goat to home grown honey, the South East is home to growers and makers of fine produce that’s perfect for gifting. Check out our local markets where you’ll find meat, preserves, chocolates, and more, all packed to the brim with country flavour. Maybe make up a hamper with a smorgasbord of our regional goodies in one delightful bundle – buying a hamper does double duty by supporting a host of different local producers and giving you the chance to sample a range of finely made regional produce.

For kids

Share the love with our local makers by buying your little friends entertaining toys and all things cute and cuddly from our markets and local stores.

Art and Design

The South Coast is brimming with local art, country homewares and beautiful jewellery, handmade with metals and gems sourced from the regions. Perfect when you’re looking for something unique. Books never age as a perfect gift and the South East has quality independent book stores that celebrate local authors.

Want to gift a local tour, a massage, a pamper, a kayak lesson or cooking class in the region for your nearest and dearest? Bush tucker tours, homestays and much more are here.

Hand-made soaps, organic veggie powders and other healthy indulgences make beautiful and original presents. Check our markets and local stores. There is much to be discovered. Eat Out All of our cafes and restaurants celebrate our local region buying and serving local produce and training and employing locals. Book an event, a birthday, Christmas, New Year or family get together and support our local outlets who are always there supporting our community.
